On the trail,
I walk behind a couple with their boy.
The boy carries a butterfly net.
Despite that the white butterflies are numerous,
he doesn’t catch anything.
He is a small boy whose reflexes are maturing.
His father invites him to keep trying.
The boy does, but he is frustrated.
I can’t catch anything! he cries.
His father and mother continue to encourage him.
The boy finally gives up
and the family walks in silence.
Suddenly, the boy places the butterfly net over his father’s head.
I caught you, Daddy! he squeals.
They all laugh.
Well done, son. I knew you would catch something.
