Managers are privileged.
They are privileged because they can be as disorganized and inefficient as they want.
It doesn’t matter because they don’t need anyone’s permission to work overtime.
Managers are the only employees allowed to work as much overtime as they want without getting paid for it.
Really, if one is looking for a management successor, look for the most inefficient worker in the organization, approach the worker and say, “You are so unproductive. Have you ever considered working in management?”
